Introduc on about Faculty Development Programme

University Grant Commission is always working for Teachers

development in all the aspects. Faculty development programs (FDPs)
have proven to be successful for improving teaching skills in higher
educa on. India is one among the countries that has the highest
number of educa onal ins tu ons in the world and, consequently,
the highest number of teachers and faculty members. The
unprecedented growth of ins tu ons in India in the past two decades
has led to a shortage of updated and well-trained faculty members
and has created a quality challenge for educa on. In recent years,
though ICT educa onal tools have been understood and adopted by
many ins tu ons, the same is not true for educa onal planning and
implementa on. There is a need for well-trained faculty members
who will help improve programs to produce quality graduates.
Enhancing the academic and intellectual environment in the
ins tu ons by providing faculty members with ample opportuni es to
pursue research and also to par cipate in seminars / conferences /
workshops has become vital for developing na ons like India.
Par cipa on in such programmes would enable faculty members to
update their research and pedagogical skills. Higher educa on
ins tu ons are star ng to adapt and respond to professionals already
in employment, mature learners and the demand from students
enrolled for skills for employability programs. With the aim of
equipping faculty members with required skills and knowledge, ICT
Academy pursues the Faculty Development Program as its primary
objec ve.
