Mood and colour
Why? As seen in our recent Insight report,
basketball is positioned as a beacon of global
influence that will penetrate beyond the game.
How? Collaborate with local taste-makers to
inject creativity and authenticity into streetwear
and styles that work well in social team sports,
such as streetball and basketball.

This multi-use item for the gym, court or
lifestyle can be styled over a T-shirt and
hoodie or worn solo.

Materials: combine open mesh structures as a

single or double layer. Experiment with net
constructions in different shapes and sizes in
repurposed materials or circular synthetics.

Design for disassembly and
recycling
Designing for disassembly enables an
item’s materials and components to be
separated with greater ease for onward
recycling or downcycling at the end of
its useful life. Select compatible
materials for the individual elements in
the item, and ensure these can easily be
removed for recycling. Innovations such
as dissolvable sewing threads or
unscrewable hardware can enable
scalable disassembly.
Design for repair and resale
Design and make products to a quality
level that can hold their value and
attract future wearers. Ensure items can
be maintained and repaired easily to
extend usefulness. Provide consumers
with kits for sewing, patching and spare
components. Offer tutorials to engage
them in the repair process. Where
appropriate, partner with repair service
providers.
