Vung Tau, a popular beach destination near HCMC, was Vietnamese tourists'

favorite place to escape this year's heat wave, followed by the central-coastal
beach town of Phan Thiet, Agoda reported.
The Central Highlands resort city Da Lat, famous for its year-round cool
climate, ranked third, followed by Nha Trang and Da Nang, top beach resort
destinations in the central region.

According to Agoda, the data was based on check-in dates between April and
August this year, with beaches and mountainous hills as top escapes for
domestic travelers this summer.

Around 110 kilometers from downtown HCMC, Vung Tau has always been one
of the more popular destinations in the south during national holidays as crowds
flood the three-kilometer-long Bai Sau, also known as Thuy Van beach.

Phan Thiet City in the south central province of Binh Thuan is home to ancient
fishing villages and pristine beaches. A new expressway to the city was opened
to traffic last year, making travel between HCMC and the destination easier for
tourists.

Lam Vu, country director for Vietnam at Agoda, said the data reflects the
resilience and adaptability of Vietnamese travelers during extreme weather
conditions.

"The preference for beach and mountain destinations indicates a desire for
comfort and a break from the extraordinary heat, affirming the importance of
dynamic domestic travel options," he added.

Many parts of Vietnam, especially in the southern region, were hit by record
heat waves in April.
