Introduction
Stainless steel 301 is an austenitic chromium-nickel steel which is available in both annealed and
cold worked conditions. In the annealed condition it offers highest extent of stretch formability as
compared to any stainless steel grades. And in the heavily cold worked condition it provides the
highest proportion of strength from any 300 series of stainless steel. It is non-magnetic in the
annealed condition but by cold working it can become magnetic.

It is corrosion resistant to various environment but offer less corrosion properties than stainless
steel 304/304L stainless steel. It is appropriate for all forms of standing welding processes.
