Abstract

Internet of think (IOT) is networks of devices that are entrenched with software, sensors, and connectivity of the
Internet. These devices can communicate over the Internet and monitor or control remotely from other places.
The main purpose of this research paper is to identify the mathematical relevance to make important
contributions to the IOT. In this paper, we have done a survey of current research papers that have been
implemented or apply the special techniques of IOT. This research paper does not present any detailed solutions
to research challenges but attempts to give some ideas about implementing or applying mathematical methods.

Keywords: Internet of Things, Operations Research

1. Introduction
Operational research provides many mathematical tools and techniques to solve real- world problems. Both the
quantitative and qualitative techniques of Operations Research (OR) support design, management and use of
Internet of Things (IOT). Both of them can be jointly applied to many areas. Some computational tools and
techniques of OR are used in processing, therefore that part of OR can be considered as part of IOT.

2. General Concept of IOT

The fundamental characteristic of the IOT system is its creative organization. In IOT, better performance can be
achieved by adding various tools and cloud services. For example, a thermostat responds to changes in
temperature, but a smart thermostat can expect a change based on the information coming in or out of the house.
The characteristic of the IOT is displayed in the figure given below.

There will be two major points of interest coming up in the future: security and modeling. Security has
already become a known field for computing, modeling will have to evolve even more when dealing with
interconnected gadgets. Modeling will have to be combined with statistics. There will be great chances to
promote new ways of statistical investigation of modeled systems. While security nowadays is mainly connected
to numerical mathematics, modeling of IOT will start for everyone. It may be also a possibility to continue work
on probability logics where a theoretical aspect suddenly could become applicable.
