Philosophies
The cultural roots of Korean art can be
found in the following philosophies:
Shamanism, Neo-
Confucianism, and Buddhism.
SHAMANISM

Similar to the belief system of the North American Indian, the Eskimo,
the ethnic groups of Africa, Polynesia, and Southeast Asia, as well as
the Philippines, whose shaman are called "babaylan", "catalonan",
"baglan" or "mumbaki".

In Korea, shamanism is mixed with Taoist principles and is in harmony

with Buddhism.

Beliefs and rituals are related to longevity and the ultimate goal in life.
