his staff longer then measures the mass. He records his data in the table below.

Length (m) Mass (kg)

1 10
10 100
1,000,000,000,000 10,000,000,000,000

What is his independent variable?

a. His staff b. How many peaches he ate
c. Length d. Mass

1.2.4 I know how to measure using these tools: graduated cylinder, balance, meter
stick, thermometer. Including sig figs!
Q9. What is the value on the cylinder:
a. 35 b. 36
b. 35.0 d. 36.0

1.3.1 I can read point from a graph.

Q10. If the temperature is 17.2 C then sales
were:
a. Temperature b. $200
c. $400 d. $600

1.3.2 I can identify independent, dependant and control variables from a graph.
Q11. On the graph from Q10 which was the independent variable?
a. Temperature b. Sales
c. C d. $

1.3.3 I can identify if measurements are accurate and precise.

Q12. Label the four targets as accurate, precise, both accurate and precise,
or neither accurate nor precise.
1.4.1 I know the prefixes kilo, hecta, deca, deci, centi, milli, micro, and pico and
their scientific notation.
Q13. The prefix micro means:
a. 1*103 b. 1*10-3
c. 1*106 d. 1*10-6
1.4.2 I can identify the following SI units: length - meter, mass - kilogram, time -
second, temperature - Kelvin, and amount of substance - mole.
Q14. The SI unit for time is:
a. s b. ks
c. min d. ms
1.4.3 I can identify the number of significant figures in a number.
Q15. 0.00505 has how many significant figures?
a. 1 b. 3
c. 5 d. 6

2.1.1 I know the difference between elements, compounds, homogeneous and

heterogeneous mixtures.
Q17. Does this diagram represent:
a. Element b. Compound
c. Homogeneous d. Heterogeneous

2.1.2 I can identify elements, molecules, and compounds based on description,

particulate pictures, and chemical formulas.
Q18. Explain how oxygen (O2) is both an element and a molecule?
___________________________________________________________________________
2.1.3 I know that atoms cannot be broken down, but molecules can be.
Q19. Which chemical cannot be broken into smaller chemicals?
a. Carbon dioxide (CO2) b. Argon (Ar)
