What is a Spreadsheet?
A spreadsheet is used for storing information and
data in tables.
Calculations can be performed on the data in a
spreadsheet.
Microsoft Excel is the most popular electronic
spreadsheet application, although there are
other electronic spreadsheets available.

•What is electronic spreadsheet?


This is an electronic document in which data is
arranged in the rows and columns of a grid and can be
manipulated and used in calculations.

WHAT IS SPREADSHEET PACKAGE?

•A spreadsheet package is an interactive computer program/software


for organization, analysis and storage of data in tables which consists
of rows and columns or CELLS. Each CELL of a spreadsheet has a
unique identification.

To launch Microsoft Office Excel
• Press the Windows Key + R • Type EXCEL in the Run Dialog Box • Press enter

• 1. At the right corner of the title bar click on the close button… or
• 2. Click on File and click on Exit. You can also use the shortcut key combination (ALT + F4).

•This is a page in a spreadsheet program organized into rows and


columns. The columns have captions A, B, C, D etc. The rows are

It has a thick black line around it.

A LABEL is a piece of TEXT that you add to a spreadsheet to help describe
the numbers.
A VALUE is a NUMBER that you type into a spreadsheet.
It is a number that you already know.
These are all VALUES.
DATA RANGE

• This is a Data range. In this example


the data range is from
B2:C7
CHARTS
• Presenting information using text and numbers only can be quite confusing
to the eyes. Hence, charts are used in spreadsheets as a graphical/pictorial
way of presenting information in a spreadsheet.
