After watching the LMs posted, kindly answer the following questions concisely.

1. Give some importance of biodiversity.

2. What can you say about the current state of Philippine biodiversity?

3. List major causes of biodiversity loss in the country.

4. As future engineers, how can you help in promoting and protecting our rich biodiversity?

Biodiversity is one of the reason of why our Earth is lively because losing biodiversity is losing life on the
planet. It provides wide range of benefits to humans. Sample of this is it ensures health and food
security because conservation of species is crucial for healthy societies and ecosystems. Another
importance of biodiversity is it helps fight diseases, because high rates of biodiversity have been linked
to an increase in human health.

The Philippines is a mega-diverse country, the home of many unique species in which more than 50% of
it is endemic. However, most people in the country is not aware of the importance of biodiversity. It is
very alarming that more than 50% of the forest which inhabited by many species are lost due to
deforestation. The country is tagged as one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots because of this. We
need to educate everyone about the biodiversity so that the loss of biodiversity can be prevented.

The main causes of biodiversity loss in the Philippines are the deforestation in which the habitats of
many species are lost, climate change that affects the distribution and behavior of species, pollution in
water and air that affects the plants and animals, lastly, the overexploitation.

As a future engineer, to promote and protect our rich biodiversity, I will always design sustainable
infrastructure focusing on less environmental impact to preserve natural habitats. I will also use
infrastructure solutions to maintain the ecosystem. I will promote the use of renewable energy to avoid
contributing on climate change. I will also find more ways to prevent the biodiversity loss in the country,
like on how to improve the waste management systems.
1. One of the factors keeping Earth alive is biodiversity, losing it would mean the end of life on our
planet as we know it. It offers people a variety of benefits. As an example, consider how it guarantees
food security and health since species conservation is essential to the wellbeing of ecosystems and
societies. High biodiversity rates have been associated with improved human health, which also
highlights the significance of biodiversity in the fight against disease.

2. The Philippines is a mega-diverse nation that is home to numerous unique species, over half of which
are endemic. The majority of people in the nation are unaware of the importance of biodiversity,
however. The fact that over 50% of the forest, home to several species, is being destroyed because of
deforestation, is very alarming. This is the reason the nation is considered as one of the world’s
biodiversity hotspots. For the purpose of preventing biodiversity loss, we must educate everyone about
it.

3. The main factors causing the loss of biodiversity in the Philippines include overexploitation, pollution
of the air and water, which affects both plants and animals, deforestation, which destroys the habitats
of many species, and climate change, which changes species distribution and behavior.

4. As a future engineer, I will always create sustainable infrastructure featuring a reduced environmental
impact to maintain natural habitats in order to promote and safeguard our rich biodiversity. I will also
use infrastructure solutions to maintain the ecosystem. In order to prevent climate change, I will
promote the use of renewable energy. I'll also look for additional strategies, like enhancing the waste
management systems, to prevent the biodiversity loss in the country.
