What is in the marking scheme?


What is in the marking scheme?

There are four assessment criteria (items in which the examiners expect to be present in students' performance before deciding on a score).

• Professional Image
• Interactive Ability
• Contribution to Task 
• Language

Professional Image relates to the candidate's overall projection of confidence in speaking, enthusiasm throughout the discussion and a positive self- 
presentation.

Interactive ability includes the ability to:


• express opinions effectively
• provide convincing and well justified arguments
• participate actively while valuing opinions of others throughout the discussion

Contribution to task assesses relevancy, maturity and the effectiveness of ideas developed. Candidates must be able to analyse issues from the given topic
and deliberate on related issues that arise during the discussion. The group must aim to arrive at a mutual agreement on issues discussed.

Language aspects looked into are:


• fluency of speech
• use of appropriate and varied vocabulary
• accurate and clear pronunciation of words
