SERVICING DATA

FUEL

Turbine fuel ASTM 1655, Type B, or MIL-T-5624, Grade JP-4, may

be used at all ambient temperatures.

Turbine fuel ASTM 1655, Type A or A 1, MIL-T-5624, Grade JP-5, or

MIL-T-83133, Grade JP-8, limited to ambient temperatures -30'C
(-22°F) and above.

Capacity 220 U.S. gallons (1400 pounds).

Unusable 2 U.S. gallons (13 pounds).

Anti-Icing Fuel Additive

When operating in ambient temperatures or fuel temperatures

below +40°F, all fuel used in this helicopter shall contain an anti-
icing additive meeting the requirements of Specification PFA-
55MB. Concentration of this additive in fuel in a loaded fuel tank
C),

shall not be less than 0.035%. The minimum concentration of the

additive in the fuel with which the aircraft is to be refueled
should be at least 0.06% by volume to assure a loaded fuel tank
concentration of at least 0.035%n.
The additive which meets the requirements of PFA-55MB is
primarily for use with ASTM 1655, Type A and A-1 (JP-5 or JP-8),'
and ASTM 1655, Type B (JP-4). JP-4 procured through military
sources normally contains this additive.

Anti-Icing Fuel Additive (Cont)

If it is not known whether or not the fuel in the helicopter contains

this additive, or if the concentration is not known, the fuel must be
drained from the helicopter and refueled with fuel containing this
additive, or a differential refractometer, Seiscor Model AC-500, may
be used to accurately measure the concentration of additive in the
fuel. This equipment is available from Seismorgraph Service
Corporation, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Prist proportioner, Model PRB-101, must be used to blend

the additive into the fuel during refueling. Instructions for the
operation of the Proportioner and the blending of the additive
are found in the operator's manual furnished with each
Proportioner.

PFA-55MB fuel additive may be purchased under the trade name

PRIST. This fuel additive may also be used to combat microbial
growth in fuel. See Manufacturer's Instructions.
The flow of additive must commence with the start of fuel flow.
Fuel flow rates from supply pumps are to be 25 to 60 GPM.

FUEL DATA

During different times of the year the acceptable freezing point of

fuel is adjusted by the producer. Check fuel specifications, grade,
and date produced to ensure proper low temperature operation.

For weight and balance purposes, the specific fuel density will
vary with fuel specification and grade.

FUEL SOURCES AND VENDORS

The following lists of fuels meets specification MIL-T-5624, ASTM

1655, Type B (JP-4) and Type A and A-1 (JP-5 and JP-8).

variance in specification between lubricant producers.
Only MII,1,7808 oil with suffixes E and subsequent is
