ABSTRACT

FAKE CURRENCY DETECTION USING IMAGE PROCESSING

Great technology advancement in printing and scanning industry made counterfeiting problem to grow
more vigorously. As a result, counterfeit currency affectes the economy and reduces . The value of
original money and this is serious issue right now .Thus it is most needed to detect the fake currency
This research suggests a method for viewing the fake currency through its image. Pre – processing
should be used after choosing an image
Then By scanning the image first is to acquisition of images is completed then the conversion from RGB
to gray scale have to be done then image segmentation , feature measurement, finding correlation if it
is found, and classification is complete to determine the currency is fake or real ..fake money has been a
significant issue and we get at most 81% of accuracy considering 50 items of indian currency notes of
500 and 2000 rupees . This project provides a thorough explanation of a fake note detector that can be
used by the average person. The suggested system employs image processing to identify genuine
currency from counterfeit money. The matlab programming language has been used to create the
software in its entirety.
