Project title: Inventorization & Mapping of Water Resources of Andaman Islands

About the project: The present study aims to develop detailed inventory and mapping of water
resources in Andamans islands for sustainable management of water resources. Geographic
Information System (GIS) technique will be used for mapping of the water resources. GIS-weighted
overlay analysis will be implemented further to explore groundwater potential zones (GWPZs).

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

(i) PhD;
and
(ii) Three years experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or
Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services
- Extensive knowledge and working experience in the field of GIS
- Knowledge about subject area of water resources.
- Must be staying at Andamans or willing to shift to Port Blair.

Pay Details:
Consolidated salary Rs.67000/- p.m. + HRA (as applicable)

General information:
- Age limit: 40 years
- There shall be no increment in the salary.
- Project is based on Andamans. So local candidates are being preferred in hiring in this project.
However, if you are willing to shift to Port Blair, you are welcome to apply.
- Candidate shall work under the supervision of the co-PI at Pondicherry University’s Port Blair
Campus throughout the duration of the project
- The position is temporary for a period of 1 year and tenable only for the duration of the project.
- The appointment is for time bound project and the candidate is required to work mainly for the
successful completion of the project.
- The selection committee may offer lower or higher designation and lower or higher salary
depending upon the experience and performance of the candidate in the interview.
