Monday Focus Question Answer: Describe the goal of the progressive party. GIve
examples of progressive ideas that changed America. They wanted to bring social
change. Some of the things they wanted to change was the workplace. Sinclair helped,
as he wrote about the meatpacking industry, that led to change.

Why did America think so little of and treat so badly the native people they
encountered? Give evidence from the notes. People generally didn’t generally like
people who were different from them. This is evident from Americanization, they don’t
like other people’s culture so they try to change other group’s culture. They had social
superiority, and thought that their culture was better than everyone else's.
Tuesday - Focus Question Answer: What was Albert Beveridge's view of American
Imperialism? How did he justify his point of view? Give examples from the text. He had
a positive view on American Imperialism. He justified his view by sharing how it would
benefit both parties (America and the territories it conquered). A few things he thought
Imperialism would bring the territories were justice, safety, law and order.
