Yellow Journalism Project Due Friday 11/3

Monday Focus Question Answer:

Do you think it was a good idea for America to expand its territory during the period we
are studying? Explain. Economically, it was a good idea to expand its territory as it
benefitted from making money off of places such as Hawaii. One example was Dole
making money off of plantations.

Why did America think so little of and treat so badly the native people they
encountered? Give evidence from the notes. People generally didn’t generally like
people who were different from them. This is evident from Americanization, they don’t
like other people’s culture so they try to change other group’s culture. They had social
superiority, and thought that their culture was better than everyone else's.
