SMART CITY INDICATORS
BUILDING THE SMART CITY: ADVANCING IN SIX FIELDS OF ACTION
At bee smart city we are certain that to become a truly smart city or community,
municipalities need to advance in six key strategic action fields: Smart Government, Smart
Economy, Smart Environment, Smart Living, Smart Mobility, and Smart People.
A smart city is about human-centric approaches to create and implement an ecosystem of
smart city solutions that creates added value and transforms into collective good. The term
"smart" includes technology as an enabler but a smart city strategy is by far not limited to
technological solutions.
SMART GOVERNMENT

“Smart Government” is about strengthening the connections and

interactions between the government and all stakeholders - citizens,
businesses and other organizations of the civil society - within a
municipality.

SMART ECONOMY

“Smart Economy” describes all actions aimed at transforming and

strengthening a municipality’s economy.

SMART ENVIRONMENT

“Smart Environment” describes how a municipal government manages the

built and natural environment to improve livability for citizens and
visitors.
SMART LIVING

“Smart Living” aims at increasing quality of life for residents and

visitors by following an inclusive strategic approach – across all age
groups and demographics.

SMART MOBILITY

“Smart Mobility” focuses on increasing the efficiency and service

quality of urban transportation to enhance the use and adoption of new
mobility solutions as well as to increase people mobility through
efficient mobility management and targeted infrastructure investments.

SMART PEOPLE

First, “Smart People” aims at transforming the way citizens interact –

via information or the provision of services – with the public and
private sector as individuals or businesses.

The ‘15-minute city’ offers an easily adaptable, positive vision of

your city’s future that connects with people
Adopting a 15-minute city strategy
means striving for an urban model
that allows everyone, in every
neighbourhood, to meet most of
their daily needs within a short
walk or bike ride of their home. It
creates a ‘human-scale’ city
composed of vibrant, people-
friendly, ‘complete’
neighbourhoods, connected by
quality public transport and cycling
infrastructure for the longer trips
that residents want or need to
make. It means decentralising city
life and services and injecting
more life into local areas across the
city.
Most of all, the 15-minute city offers:

 A boost to the local economy.

 A more equitable, inclusive city and stronger sense of community.

 Better health and wellbeing.

 Lower transport emissions and better air quality.

What are Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)?

Good agricultural practices are a set of principles, standards and technical
recommendations applied to food production in the primary phase, and which are aimed at
caring for human health, protecting the environment, improving the conditions of workers
and their families.

Pillars of Good Agricultural Practices

The fundamental pillars of GAP are food safety, environmental care and management, and
occupational safety. These seek:
- Guarantee a healthy and hazard-free product for the consumer.
- Preserve and care for water, soil, shrub plant species, beneficial insects and natural
barriers within the agricultural property.
- Ensure the health of farmers.
- Promote the use of personal protective tools and equipment for the development of
their activities.
- Drive constant training.
