PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID

Our Psychological First Aid seminar, held on April 17, 2024, at the Children's Room in Barangay
Abella, this aimed at equipping participants with essential skills and knowledge for offering
psychological support to individuals experiencing crisis or distress. Throughout the session, attendees
delved into various aspects of crisis intervention and learned invaluable techniques for effectively
providing assistance to those in need.

However, despite our intensive planning, the seminar faced various problems, most notably the
delayed start of the program. This setback was caused by a breakdown in communication between
the office administration and the barangay tanod, emphasizing the significance of efficient planning
and clear communication lines in ensuring that such events go well. Additionally, we faced challenges
with the assigned topic, as we struggled to pinpoint where to direct our focus. However, it was solved
thanks to the invaluable contributions of our clinical instructor, Sir Rico. His expertise and insights
into psychological first aid provided much-needed clarity and direction, enriching our understanding
of the subject matter.

That’s why we have our recommendations to the future facilitators:

● Engaging in proactive communication by reaching out to the instructor or initiating
collaboration with them to inquire about the specific areas of focus within the topic at hand,
as this approach facilitates a more tailored and targeted discussion during sessions, thereby
significantly enhancing the clarity, depth, and relevance of the discourse for all participants
involved.

And to the Barangay abella:

● Establish a comprehensive line of communication, encompassing various channels such as
social media platforms, community newsletters, physical notice boards, and regular
meetings, to effectively disseminate pertinent information and announcements pertaining to
activities and significant events, ensuring that all residents are well-informed and engaged in
the community affairs.

Despite the challenges faced, the Psychological First Aid Seminar was deemed successful.
