WEEK 7: CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF CULTISM AND DRUG.

CONTENT: Cultism is an organized group of people with their rules and rites whose acts are kept secret
by the initiates from the law and the public, and causes social mayhem in their interactions with the
society. Drug taking are usually synonymous with cultism because it takes a state of hallucination to be a
social deviants or miscreants. Almost all people in cultism have anti-social personality—as inability to
relate well with others not of their group, taking advantages of a non-initiate, and knowing each other
by certain signs or symbols. They do become a social menace because of poor relations, in the skills of
making wealth without crimes. Which are why they are regular hard drug takers to be “active”.

CAUSES OF CULTISM.

(1) Crave for power: A sense of powerlessness indulge people, especial the youths to indulge in
cultism to protected.e.g internet crime locally called yahoo are an example.
(2) Search for love: some people due to low self-esteem because of inferiority complex has problem
to cultivating lasting relationship—and because of it they join cult to seeking social validations.
(3) Search for security: Many people with weak minds join cultism in the beliefs to protect
theirselve —per interest and the social pressure.
(4) Influence of friends: Many people in cultism were led there by friends—as schoolmates,
neighbors, and even religious members in deviancy.

EFFECTS AND CONSEQUENCES OF CULTISM IN SCHOOLS.

(1) Problem of maintaining discipline.

(2) Breakdown of laws and order.
(3) Condones bullying and abuse of others rights.
(4) Encourages fall in the standard of education.
(5) It leads to the problem school closure and being proscribe with participations in other social
good activities with other schools.
(6) It leads to a school and a community bad image.
(7) It can lead to loss of life in fights and other crimes.
(8) It encourages abusive behaviors to the females—that some can leads to sexual molestations.

(2) Explain on two causes of cultism.
(3) Why do you think taking drug is synonymous/ agreeable with cultism?
