Activity 1
Grade 6
Investigate and extend patterns
• Investigate and extend numeric patterns looking for relationships or rules of
patterns: - sequences not limited to a constant difference or ratio - of learner’s own
creation - represented in tables • Describe the general rules for the observed
relationships (Department of Basic Education, 2011)
Input and output values
• Determine input values, output values and rules for the patterns and relationships
using: - flow diagrams – tables (Department of Basic Education, 2011)
The difference between the two grades is that at grade 6 when it comes to number
patterns they use general rules and tables vs the grade 4’
Equivalent forms
• Determine equivalence of different descriptions of the same relationship or rule
presented - verbally - in a flow diagram - by a number sentence (Department of
Basic Education, 2011)”
Grade 6
“Investigate and extend patterns
• Investigate and extend geometric patterns looking for relationships or rules of
patterns - represented in physical or diagram form - sequences not limited to a
constant difference or ratio - of learner’s own creation - represented in tables •
Describe the general rules for the observed relationships (Department of Basic
Education, 2011)
Input and output values
Determine input values, output values and rules for the patterns and relationships
using • flow diagrams • tables (Department of Basic Education, 2011)
Equivalent forms
The difference between the two is on the investigate and extend of patterns on the
grade 6’s there is no limited to a constatnt difference vs grade 4’ . On the input and
output in grade 6 they use tables while in grade 4 they don’t same as Equivalent
forms they use tables in grade 6 and not in grade 4
Grade 4
“Number sentences
• Write number sentences to describe problem situations • Solve and complete
number sentences by - inspection - trial and improvement • Check solution by
substitution (Department of Basic Education, 2011)
Grade 6

One of the advantages of ICT lessons from the students' point of view is the
increased motivation(learningBOX|E-learning and learning management system
that anyone can use easily, 2021). It is difficult to motivate students in a class where
they are content to copy what is on the board into their notebooks. However, the use
of digital devices such as tablets and PCs can give students a new perspective on
the classroom(learningBOX|E-learning and learning management system that
anyone can use easily, 2021). One example is classrooms, where students can talk
to students from other countries using the video call feature on their tablets or
computers.Especially when you use ICT tools to communicate with students from
other countries, you can effectively improve your ability to communicate in another
language(learningBOX|E-learning and learning management system that anyone
can use easily, 2021).
Another benefit of ICT in education is that it allows them to visually and
audibly convey information to others(learningBOX |E-learning and learning
management system that anyone can use easily, 2021).For example, in
mathematics, diagrams can be viewed in three dimensions, and in English,
students can listen to the pronunciation of words in audio form(learningBOX
|E-learning and learning management system that anyone can use easily,
2021). In classes where students only read textbooks, it is difficult to
stimulate discussion among students, and the teacher tends to give one-
sided lectures(learningBOX|E-learning and learning management system
that anyone can use easily, 2021).However, ICT training allows for
interactive teaching between teachers and students or between
students(learningBOX|E-learning and learning management system that
anyone can use easily, 2021). If we can create a situation where students
enjoy learning, it will lead to more fun in the classroom(learningBOX |E-
learning and learning management system that anyone can use easily,
2021).
ICT teaching also has the benefit of improving teacher effectiveness. Using
digital devices for teaching eliminates the need to order and print
textbooks(learningBOX|E-learning and learning management system that
anyone can use easily, 2021).
In addition, teachers from the same school can share information about their
learning progress and support their students in different ways(learningBOX
|E-learning and learning management system that anyone can use easily,
2021).
