ABSTRACT
Cancer cells proliferate and form malignant tumors that metastasize throughout the body
using blood vessels which are formed during angiogenesis. The study aimed to determine the
antiangiogenic potential of Muntingia calabura methanolic leaf extract using duck embryo
chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay. Phytochemical analysis testing revealed that M.
calabura methanolic leaf extract contains flavonoids and tannins which are associated as
anticancer components. The lethal dose value for CAM assay was determined through
cytotoxicity testing indicating 0.2 mg/ml of concentration to be the most suitable and were
divided into three treatments: 0.2 mg/ml, 0.4 mg/ml, and 0.6 mg/ml, that were utilized during
CAM assay, as well as both positive and negative controls. The results were statistically treated
using mean, one-way ANOVA, Post Hoc analysis, LSD, and Pearson Correlation. The 0.4 mg/ml
concentration had the highest antiangiogenic activity followed by the methotrexate, 0.6 mg/ml,
and 0.2 mg/ml concentration respectively. At 5% significance, one-way ANOVA revealed the p-
value between and among the antiangiogenic levels of each treatment equal to 0.000 showing
that there is a significant difference and is highly significant for p<0.05. DMSO solution had the
lowest antiangiogenic level and is significantly different from methotrexate and 0.4 mg/ml at
both p-values 0.000. Results for Pearson Correlation between the extract concentrations and the
number of branching vessels equal to p=0.585 at 5% level of significance, showing no
significant correlation. Based on the results, the researchers rejected the null hypothesis and
concluded that 0.4 mg/ml concentration of M. calabura methanolic leaf extract exhibit
antiangiogenic potential.

MODULE: R9M4- Enhanced Research Title
Instructions: Write the tile of your home-based experiment on the Title Section. Identify the given title
whether better or need to be enhanced by answering the checklist. Put a check (/) in the column where
an indicator is present. And (x) when the indicator is not present. Put “better” in the Remarks if all
indicators are present or check (/). It will be remarked “need to be enhanced” even if only one (x) is not
present. If the title is remarked” need to be enhanced”, then you are going to make necessary
improvements to make it better

Specifically:
1.Determine the effect of bitter gourd fruit extract in the lowering of glucose levels in induced diabetic
mice.
2. Determine if there is a significant difference in the effectiveness of bitter gourd extract and
commercial alternatives for induced diabetic white mice.
3. Determine if there is a significant relationship among the varying ratio of bitter gourd extract and
commercial alternatives.
The areas of perception will be the glucose levels of the diabetic induced white mice. The
independent variable is the varying ratio of bitter gourd extract and the dependent variable is
the level of glucose level on white mice.
The research design will be CRD because there are 4 treatments, 3 replicates and 12 diabetic
white mice with a same age used for this study.
The experiment will be conducted in Bacolod city And with the expected duration will be around
3 month.
