Apart from Howrah Orthopaedic Hospital, Medical Department, Howrah Division

also has 11 (eleven) functional Health Units and 5 Lock – Up Dispensaries

providing primary level Health Care to Railway Beneficiaries spread over the entire Howrah
Division.

The Services provided include OPD Services, Medical Examination of employees

at the major Health Units, Diagnostic Services through tie-ups in units at far away
locations, Sanitation of stations and Colonies etc. A great deal of preventive care is
provided through Family Welfare Services, Immunization, Health Education and
Screening for Diseases through Annual Wellness Assurance Check-up (AWAC)
Programme for all employees.

The Health Units are also geared up to meet Disaster situations with 02 ARME Scale I
and 05 ARME Scale II attached to the important health units.
