Course Objective

This course aims to understand the oncepts and principle involved in retrosynthetic analysis; to
explore guidelines for dissection of molecules and One-Group and Two-group Disconnection approach;
to understand the types of selectivity and to study the retrosynthetic approaches for synthesis of complex
drug molecules

Course Outcome:

1 Gain a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles of retrosynthetic analysis.

2 Acquire knowledge on the guidelines for dissection of molecules in retrosynthesis

34 Interpret the concepts of Functional group interconversion (FGI) and Functional group addition
FGA)

4 Aware of the types of selectivity. Regioselectivity, Stereoselectivity, Stereo-specificity and


Chemo-selectivity

5 Understand one-group and two-group disconnection approach
