ABSTRACT

The research entitled "Strategies for improving reading and writing skills among students in grade 11 at ATEC

Technological College" aims to identify the effects of increasing the ability to communicate with others, which

also helps you to be a better worker or student, as well as the ability to write. The paper aims to find out the

strategies of grade 11 students for improving their reading and writing skills at ATEC Technological College.
This study focuses on the students and what steps or strategies they have taken to improve their reading and

writing skills. It can also be used to use their excellence in writing skills. To identify such strategies to improve

their reading and writing skills, we gave a survey questionnaire to 50 respondents of the chosen ATEC

Technological College in grade 11. This research can motivate others who are weak in reading and writing to

get an idea of how to make a strategy or improve their reading and writing skills.

INTRODUCTION

Reading and writing skills for students are very necessary for the success of their studies. Reading habits can

severely affect their knowledge and comprehension in their field of subjects. Developing productive skills,

especially in academic writing, has become a dire need for most undergraduate learners to pursue their academic

career successfully. Within the current daily environment, which has become more computerized than ever

before, it is clear that we need to think of this environment not only as a tool to perform tasks but also as a tool

to help increase its users' learning skills.

Since the constructivist approach is dominant and learning by doing is perceived as a key element for most

programs in higher education, the potential to reap the benefits of enriching academic writing skills through

integrating some reading and writing research skills in English in computerized environments has become a

necessity.

This can be done through blended courses guided by facilitators. The opportunity for instructors and facilitators

to influence learner-centered environments is something that should be considered. In this prospect, electronic

learning, or, shortly, e-learning, represents a wide area of knowledge acquisition in the educational process by

means of modern information and telecommunication technologies. E-learning has a great role in solving some

specific problems closely related to adult education. In these days, which are full of rapid changes, time plays an

important role. Unfortunately, the lack of this phenomenon touches everyone, and thus many problems in adult

education are directly related to it. In this case, e-learning can be applied as a very useful and powerful tool for

increasing the linguistic knowledge, skills, and qualifications of individuals.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to determine what strategies grade 11 students at Atec Technological College use to improve

their reading and writing skills. They will provide an answer to the following question:
1. How do the reading and writing skills improve the students' academic performance?

1.1 Better communication

1.2 Understanding

1.3 Knowledge

2. How do the students apply their strategies to improving their reading and writing skills?

3. What is the impact of having reading and writing skills?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Students- This study will help them improve their reading and writing skills. By practicing writing and

communicating through writing and reading books, this study will help students improve their knowledge of

reading and writing, and they will improve their academic performance with the help of this study.

Teachers- This study will help the teachers improve their strategies for reading and writing skills. That they can

share more knowledge with their students during the discussion.

Future researchers- This study will help future researchers gain more knowledge on how reading and writing

are important to individuals and how reading and writing can affect students study habits and their academic

performance. They will also improve their strategies in reading and writing with the help of this research study.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study aims to find out the strategies of grade 11 students for improving their reading and writing skills at

ATEC Technological College. This study focuses on the students and what steps or strategies they have taken to

improve their reading and writing skills. It can also be used to use their excellence in writing skills. This survey
will be given to 50 respondents who are randomly selected from Atec Technological College in grade 11

students.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Firstly, the theory of constructivism claims that the meaning of an article lies in the learners' construction based

on the existing information, knowledge, emotion, experience, and culture rather than the article itself. In fact,

reading is a form of communication between readers and writers, but not face-to-face. The second theory is

literacy theory. education professionals agree that a balanced approach to literacy is the most effective way to

teach children how to read and write. A balanced approach that varies teaching methods, nurtures a love for

reading, and integrates different reading materials developed because of several independent literacy theories

coming together. Literacy theory has developed over the last hundred years from in-depth scientific and social

research. In this lesson, we will explore three theories that are popular in the field of education: social

constructivist, maturationist, and emergent literacy theory. In this theory, literacy theory is the study of how

people develop these skills through various means. Lastly, there is the maturationist theory. Maturationism is an

early childhood educational philosophy that sees the child as a growing organism and believes that the role of

education is to passively support this growth rather than actively fill the child with information. This theory

suggests that growth and development unfold from within the organism. This theory believes that the role of

education is to passively support this growth rather than actively fill the child with information.
