TALK ABOUT TECHNICAL APPLIANCES

Nowadays it’s much easier to communicate with others than it was twenty years ago. We
cannot imagine our lives without computers because they make our work and lives easier.
You can store and retrieve vast amount of information on it. The Internet can be used for
many types of communication including e-mails, video conferences, online chatting, social
networking, blogging or posting messages on forums. I use my mobile phone and my
computer every day. You can use the mobile phone at any time, anywhere, in case of
emergency as well. You can send short text messages, called SMS. You can take photos. You
can talk to people. I quiet often use my computer. I can find a lot of information on the
Internet. I like surfing the Net. I can download music, films, check weather forecast, play
computer games, write e-mails. I learnt how to operate the computer at home and then at
school during IT lesson. I use the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Messenger every day. It
helps me to keep in touch and communicate with my friends. I quite often listen to the radio.
MAKE A RESERVATION IN THE GRAND HOTEL

Teacher: Good morning! How can I help you?

You: Good morning. My name is …………………. I would like to make a reservation on
1st July.
Teacher: For how many nights?
You: For three nights. Is there a room available?
Teacher: Let me check. Would you like a single or a double room?
You: I would like a double room with a private bathroom.
Teacher: We have a nice double room on the 1st floor. Is is Ok for you?
You: Yes, of course.
Teacher: Would you like to order breakfast?
You: Certainly. Can you tell me what it includes?
Teacher: You can choose from English and Continental breakfast.
You: English is Ok. How much does it cost?
Teacher: It costs 30 pounds per night.
You: Can I pay by credit card?
Teacher: Of course. Thank you for your reservation. Goodbye.
You: Goodbye.

PICTURE DESCRIPTION
These pictures show people doing housework. In the first picture I can see a young woman
cleaning the windows. In the other picture the man is washing the car. There are a lot of other
jobs you have to do around the house like cleaning, shopping, cooking, doing the washing-up,
gardening or cutting wood. As for mer, I tidy my room every weekend and sometimes help
my mum with cooking/shopping or hoovering the rooms. I often cut the grass in spring and
summer. On Saturdays we do th ebig weekend shopping together. I can use a few household
appliances like toaster, mixer or coffee maker but I never do the laundry(mosás) or the
ironing. My dad usually works in the garden and repairs things around the house. I think
housework has to be shared and every family member should do a bit of household chores
because it is too much work for one person. Typical women’s housework is cooking, washing
up, ironing or cleaning. Typical men’s housework is washing the car, gardening or DIY (do it
yourself – barkácsolás).
