PIXIE BONNET

Bonnet is worked from the front (face) edge, with simple shaping and increases to create the "Pixie"

point at the back of the hat.

ch 58, start in the 3rd st from the hook.

Next you will join the back seam, which is the working edge, of your bonnet. This is done by folding

your bonnet in half (bringing the end of the row to the beginning of the row) and working a sl st into

the back loop only of both sides all the way along the back seam, (img. 16-17) Fasten off. weave in

ends. now turn your hat in the other way so that the sl st seam will be on the inside of the hat.

attach yarn to the front edge and ch 35. (img. 19) do the same for the other side.

Fasten off. weave in ends.

Picot stitch

ch 2, Insert hook into back of first chain made. (the one at the bottom, closest to the work), Make a

single crochet.

ch 10, start working in the 2nd stitch from the hook, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 dc into the next loop, 1 dc,

1 hdc, 2 sc.

You should now be at the end of the first side. ch 1 to take you around the end. (img. 21)

You'll be working on the opposite side now, putting the hook under the single loops that remain

along the bottom edge of the foundation chain. You should be able to clearly count 9 of them.

Work 2 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 dc into the next st, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 2 sc. This should take you to the end of the

second side. Make a slip stitch into the beginning of the foundation chain to close the end of the

leaf. (img. 22)

Now it's time to work around the leaf shape making the pointy picot. You'll be working into the

stitches of the first side of the leaf, putting the hook under both loops of the stitch. Work a slip

stitch into the 1st stitch.

Into the 2nd stitch work 1 sc, then ch 2, picot st, 2 sl st.

In the next stitch, make your second picot, as follows: 1 sc, ch 2, sl st into second chain from hook, 1

sc.

sl st into each of next 2 stitches, then in the next stitch make another picot (1 sc, ch 2, sl st into

second chain from hook, 1 sc), sl st into each of next 2 stitches.

you should now be at the end and have three picot points made, as above. (img. 25)

Make a picot into this end chain, same as before (1 sc, ch 2, sl st into second chain from hook, 1 sc)

Work your way down the Second Side. (sl st into each of next 2 stitches, 1 sc, ch 2, sl st into 2nd

chain from hook, 1 sc)*3, sl st into the last stitch to finish.

fasten off. leave long tail for sewing.
