PROBLEM:
1) Design the interior and exterior T-beams for a cast-in-place reinforced concrete T-beam deck. Design
the beams using Strength I limit state and Service I limit state for flexural cracking. Use f’c=28 MPa and
fy=425 MPa. Use 20mm and/or 25mm rebars. Utilize the following parameters:

Span Length = 14 m (simple span) Concrete density = 2320 kg/m^3

Bridge Width = 11 m (edge to edge of traffic barrier) FWS density (bituminous) = 2250 kg/m^3
Width of traffic barrier = 550 mm Future wearing surface = 63 mm
Weight of traffic barrier = 7 kN/m Top integral wearing surface = 13 mm
Concrete cover = 40 mm

2) Sketch the deck plan view and section details incorporating the results computed. Specify the rebar
diameter and spacing.
