Symptom

You make several postings to the same asset. For example, you start several worklists at the same time that
contain the same assets.
Different processes may simultaneously post to the same asset, which may lead to various inconsistencies.
Among other things, the following problems may occur.

• Complete retirements are incorrectly posted several times for the same asset.
• Incorrect values are determined during posting.
• Duplicate asset keys are generated, which may lead to the dump ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY in AW01N.

Reason and Prerequisites

Program error

The asset lock is already released before the update task is started. The asset lock is then no longer
transferred to the update task and, as a result, further processes can process the same asset before the data
has been completely updated. This is incorrect.

Solution

Implement the corrections specified below in your system.

In the case of incorrect postings (for example, if incorrect values were determined), reverse them and post
them again after you have implemented the corrections.
If the dump ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY occurs in AW01N, you can use the correction reports from SAP Note
2416765 for the affected assets to correct the duplicate asset keys.
