Introduction
Modbus agent release 1.2.1 is an agent service release.
IDP terminals using this release must be running IDP firmware v5.0.13 or higher, and SG-7100
terminals must be running firmware v1.0.0 or higher. `
New Features
 Periodically reads Modbus parameters from slaves over RS-232/RS-485/TCP.
 Supports multiple reads within a single message.
 Decodes read parameters and reports them in Lua events and optionally in properties.
 On-demand read and decode from Modbus parameters over-the-air and using Lua
functions.
 On-demand write to Modbus parameters over-the-air and using Lua functions.
 Support for up to 1000 registers and 255 slaves.
 Support for IDP terminals and SG-7100.

Upgrade Instructions for Existing Customers
SkyWave IDP terminal customers with existing terminals must use the Console application,
which is found in the IDP Toolkit, to upgrade the application according to the instructions below.

Loading or Upgrading the Package File


For IDP Terminals:
1. Log in to https://support.skywave.com and download:
 The latest version of the IDP Toolkit (IsatData Pro category)
 The latest agent package file (Agent Services Software category)
2. Uninstall any previously installed versions of the IDP Toolkit.
3. Install the latest version of the IDP Toolkit.
4. Start Console, which is found in the IDP Toolkit.
5. Click File > Connect to connect to the serial port on the terminal. Make sure that the
terminal’s baud rate is set to 9600.
The Lua Services Framework loads and brings you to the shell prompt.
6. Click File > Load Package.
7. Browse for and select the latest agent .idppkg package file (modbus-Rel-v1_2_1.idppkg),
and then click Open.
After the upload completes, Console returns to the Lua Services Framework.

For SG-7100 Terminals:


1. Log in to https://support.skywave.com and download the latest agent package file (Agent
Services Software category).
2. Start WinSCP.
3. In the Host Name field, enter the terminal's IP address and connect to the terminal using
the root or admin credentials.
4. Click Login and wait for the connection to complete.
5. In the SG-7100 folders in the right pane of the WinSCP window, navigate to
/LSF_ADMIN/packages.
6. In the left pane, navigate to and select the agent .idppkg package file that you downloaded
(modbus-Rel-v1_2_1.idppkg).
7. Click Upload to transfer the file to the SG-7100, and wait for the package file transfer to
complete.
8. Restart the LSF. Refer to T302 for detailed instructions.
