1. The following table shows the time, in minutes, taken by 80 participants to

solve a particular puzzle in a quiz.

Time x min Frequency

2< x ≤ 4 7
4< x ≤ 6 10
6< x ≤ 8 11
8< x ≤ 10 25
10< x ≤ 12 27

a) Represent the data by a histogram.

b) Find the number of participants who took more than 10 minutes to solve
the puzzle.
c) Participants who took at most eight minutes to solve the puzzles are
eligible for a prize. Find the percentage of participants who are eligible for
the prize.

2. A survey is conducted to find out which continent a group of university

students will be traveling to foreign exchange program.
Each student will travel to one continent.
The pie chart shows the results of the survey.
a) Form an equation in P and solve to find the value of P.

b) A student is selected at random, find the percentage of

students who will be travelling to
i) Europe
ii) either Asia or North America
iii) South America
c) Calculate the number of students whose exchange programme will take
place in Asia.
3. Solve these inequalities and represent the solution on a number line:

a) 4( x – 3 ) ≤ 2( x + 2 )
b) 2x + 1 ≥ 13
c) 16− 4x ≥ 9x−49
4𝑥−3 𝑥+ 5
d) 2 > 4
6 𝑥 3 39
e) – > 𝑥+ –x

4. Solve the simultaneous equations below by elimination/Substitution,

simplifying your answers where necessary.

a) 3x = 9 – 2y
2x – y = 20

b) 5y = 11 – 2x
3x – 10y + 36 = 0
x 2y
c) y = 7x – 4 d) – =4 e) 13x -6y = 20

b) -x = - 5 (x – 10)
6x+1 x−3
c) 3 + 1 = 6
d) 3(2x – 3) – 2(1 – x) = 6 – (4x + 5)
𝑥 +1 1 2𝑥 +1
