The Effectiveness of AI in English Learning for Third-

year HUFLIT Students: Comparision to Traditional

Method

Abstract
The growing presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has sparked significant
interest in its potential to transform language learning. This study investigated the
potential and challenges of AI-based English language learning for third-year students at
HUFLIT, particularly those majoring in Foreign Languages. A survey was conducted to
gauge student usage of AI tools and their perceived impact on learning outcomes. The
findings revealed a promising landscape, with over 70% of students utilizing AI tools
regularly and attributing positive effects on their learning experience. Notably, AI
demonstrated effectiveness in strengthening foundational skills like vocabulary
acquisition and grammar learning. Particularly noteworthy was student feedback
suggesting AI's aptitude for improving listening comprehension, potentially due to its
personalized feedback and targeted practice capabilities. AI offers a valuable and versatile
tool for enhancing English language learning, but its successful implementation requires
a balanced approach that acknowledges both its strengths and limitations. This study
emphasizes the need for further research to explore the long-term impact of AI on
learning outcomes and its potential for seamless integration with traditional methods..
