Scope
1.1 This specication covers straight and bent, headed and
headless, carbon, carbon boron, alioy, or high-strength low-
allay see} anchor bolis. The anchor bolts ae furnished in three
strength grades, two thread classes, end inthe sizes specified in
Seation 4
1.2 The anchor bolts are intended far anchoring stuctural
supports to conorete foundations. Such strgctural supports
include building columns, column Supports for highway sins,
street lighting and tafe signals, stscl Ueating plates. and
sialer applications
1.3 Supplementary requirements are included to provide for
Grade 55 weliable steel, permanent manufactures and grade
‘densfieation, and impact properties for Grades 55 and 105.
14 Zine coating requirements are included in Section 7 for
spplicatons requiring comesion protection,

3. Terminology
3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific 10 This Standard:
3.1.1 anchor boit—a steel rod or bar, one end of which is
intended to be cast in concrete, while the opposite end is
threaded and projects trom the concrete, for anchoring other

8. Ordering Information
5.1 Orders for anchor bolts should include the following
information:
S.l.L Quantity (Nunber of Pieces)—If the purchaser in-
tends to perform desinuctive tess on finished anchor boli, the
‘manufseturcr should be advised so thar an adequate numbet are
produced, especially for the sizes and types not readily
available from stock.
5.1.2 Name of product (steel anchor bolt)
5.13 ASTM designation and year of issue.
5.14 Grade and class, that is, Grade 36, $5, or 105 and
Class 1A or 2A. Weldable Grade 55 may be furnished when
Grade 36 is ordered. (See 4.1.)
5.1.5 Copper, if copper beating steel is required.
5.1.6 Size and Dimensions—Include the diameter and
shreads (based on nominal thread diameter), bolt length, thread
length, and length of hook if @ hook is required, or provide a
