Work Method Statement DETENTION POND

A detention pond is a low lying area that is designed to detain water and keeps runoff
1.0 Introduction to the desired rate. It is to help control potential flooding from storm water runoff
and to improve water quality that leads into streams.
1.1 Type of Plant
i. Excavator / Long Arm Excavator / Backhoe
ii. Concrete Mixer
iii. Lorry as required
iv. Semi- skilled workers
v. General workers

1.2 Sequence of Works
a. To carry out construction survey to established alignment and levels as
specified. The shape of the pond to get Landscape Architect to confirm.
b. To construct proposed access road to the Detention pond sites for
machinery and transportation mobilizations.
c. To remove all excess materials as described (if any) from site to dumping
site.
d. To form embankment and cut slopes to the proposed invert level as per
specified. (Slope trimming and shaping to get confirmation from Landscape
Architect before proceeding).
e. To lay non-woven Geotextiles as specified in drawings.
f. To lay Geotextile ‘Kiaratex KET20’ as per specified.
g. Lay 150mm thick topsoil on top of mattress.
h. Lay ‘Kiaratex KET20’ as per specified.
i. Lay a close turfing layer as finishes.
j. To construct permanent steel sheet pile FSP II at the specified location.
k. Construction of discharge outlet complete with gabion wall, GPTs, penstock
and pond signage as specified.
l. To construct the maintenance ramp, location to confirm with Landscape
Architect.
