A member of the Aranda people, Namatjira attended a Lutheran mission
school, was taught European watercolour technique by a white artist, Rex
Battarbee, from 1934 to 1936, and became a teacher at the Finke
River Aboriginal Mission School. In 1936 he sold his first painting, and, in
1938, 41 of his watercolours were exhibited in Melbourne and were sold
out, entailing a great demand for his work. He exhibited frequently in the
next two decades and became well known in Australia and even overseas
(one of his paintings was presented to Queen Elizabeth II in
1954).Although he was granted Australian citizenship in 1957, his ethnic
origin hindered his freedom. He was barred from moving into what he
aspiringly called “a white man’s house” in a residential area of Alice
Springs because he was of Aboriginal descent. In the last year of his life
he was jailed for two months for supplying alcoholic liquor to a
noncitizen Aboriginal person. After his release, he spent most of his final
months at Hermannsburg, Australia’s largest mission station, continuing
to paint, though in poor health.

The figure of eagle that have been
simplified.

 ANALYSIS
The using of colour red, yellow and white on eagle to show
the symbolizes of Kedah. People know that red eagle was in
logo of Kedah's soccer team.
The use of grey, black colour on Alor Setar tower.
Paddy been using earth colour which is yellow and raw
sienna
The dot been using as background and using blue colour to
make the main stick infront.
INTERPRETATION
The eagle have been changed to compliment the style of
paintings. It been draw to make it look like hugging the Alor
Setar tower. This is to show that Kedah are a state which it
community helping each other and strive to develop
community that can cooperate with each other
The use of blue colour as a dot in the background can give a
meaning of peace which I want to show that peace as
additional can help country to become better.
Paddy using colour of earth like yellow and raw sienna that
look like gold colour to show the rich of natural resources in
Kedah. Kedah also well known because of the paddy.
The mountain are supposed to become the clue to show
popular well know mountain in Kedah which is Keriang
mountain and also Jerai mountain.
EVALUATION
This artwork are using aboriginal art where the origins from
Australia. This work can also show that the use of dot can
become harmonize and compliment the work with many of
styles.
From this artwork, I want to show to the audience Kedah
from my perspective and give audience the clue what Kedah
are.
