Q 3:

Part A-

The most viable way to attain the optimal patient flow at the Velindre Cancer Care
Hospital possible through the installing sign at the different places.

It displays the readable and big signboard at the different locations that help to lead the
patient through the facility. Secondly, there should be sequential flow at the hospital that
prohibits the patient from crossing where to get to their next area. Hospitals also need to make
investments in the implementation of new technologies and procure new capabilities as well as
new work methods that help to promote the patient flow culture at the hospital. At the same time,
it is also strategically essential to look at the entire trajectory of the patient's care as a unified
flow whose alignment must be integrated between and across all external and internal actors
(Philip et al., 2023).

Understanding about core issues

The hospital also needs to understand the barriers that hinder the efficient flow of patients
at the cancer care hospital (process, 2024) so that it can identify them earlier and take abatement
measures that help to improve patient flow. These barriers that contribute to influencing the
smooth flow of patients are provided in the form of a table.

Hospitals need to implement the telehealth program for the scanning of patients. Suppose
the hospital allows the patient to record their concerns (Hospital, 2022) and also their health
issues to the hospital staff before visiting the hospital. It will help the staff to make patient
screening on the basis of severity of disease and stage of cancer. As elaborated in the following

Outsourcing health service assistance in patient processing and optimal volume:

The team could also take help from a third party, like outsourcing the patient data and helping in
the financial management of the hospital. Third-party or cloud-based IT services for patient-
integrated data and patient-personalized support can also be outsourced. The patient data
feedback through the email and alerts about their next checkup could be sent through their email.
It will also help in the optimal flow of the patient without any barriers at the hospital.

The hospital also needs to install modern-day innovation services like Business intelligence. This
will impact the way it interacts with patients. Big data analytics can also be utilized to scale the
operational efficiency of the cancer care hospital (Goel et al., 2020).

Furthermore, the patient should be enabled to learn about the diagnostic process of disease. The
hospital needs to create an environment through which patients and their families feel engaged
and comfortable during the diagnostic process. They should also allow patients to share their
feedback about the diagnostic process and potential loopholes that they think lead to
overcrowding and a large volume of patients at the hospital (Subramanian, 2024).

In short, the constant flow of patients ensures the smoothness of hospital practice. The hospital
that maintains the optimal flow of patients and their volume can ensure that the maximum
number of patients are able to avail themselves of medical services over a period of time.

Part B:

To prevent eco-credential issue, a good hospital should have a protocol to prevent the patients
from any risk. The design of the building is accurately eco-friendly, and the hospital is
environmentally responsible. The hospital building has sustained the flora and fauna of the
hospital. New Valindre Cancer Care Hospital. The new draft has a plan that includes parking,
new routes, and road plans for the hospital (Plan, 2023). The design was approved, and it is
assumed that by the end of 2027, the new building will be constructed.
Negative impact response

The environmental protection group argues that the new building will prove to be injurious to the
life of natural flora and fauna. The building was aimed to be completed in 2027. The wildlife in
the area will not be disturbed as a fence will be made around the conjected wild population and
hospital so that any trespassing activity will be forbidden in the future. The alternate route will
be provided to water passages so that aquatic populations remain risk-free from the chemical
contamination that could affect the equilibrium of natural life.

The building material will be used that could be easily recycled and have no destructive effect on
the surroundings. The hospital also has a plan to construct temporary roads on the site of
Whitchurch that will be used during emergencies. It will also help to save the cost required for
bringing the staff to the opening gate. It will also provide easy access to patient travel from South
East Wales to the hospital. At the same time, the network of connected and temporary roads that
lead to hospitals also helps to reduce the burden of traffic from the roads. It also contributes to
easy and hassle-free access of the patient to the hospital. The hospital will get most of its
products from the EPD, which is well well-known supplier of eco-friendly products to the
business.

The Green Eco-credential of the hospital also helps in the management of the balance between
the security of wildlife and the hospital to ensure the environmental sustainability. It ensures
through making sentries in the hospital that the lives of animals will not be disturbed during and
after the construction of the building; the natural life cycle of the animals will flow at the same
pace. Various filtration plants will be installed at the inlet and outlet of the hospital. The aim of
installing these is to protect the seepage of hazardous chemicals found in the soap bars and
fresheners like Phthalates to ensure they should not affect the animals at any cost. The plan is
illustrated in the following figure.

Solid waste is also sorted out and dumbed at the place where it least impacts the wildlife—the
glass waste, plastic waste, and green garbage are graded and sorted out.

Circular design principle:

The hospital also pays close attention to the stages of the product life cycle so that it can attain a
sustainable form of manufacturing and disposal. Some common examples of examples of design
involve raw materials, materials of raw materials, and how materials are utilized to utilize them
to utilize sustainability.

e building of the hospital is made on the principle of circular design. The circulatory economy
can be attained through the three principles included

 waste and pollution elimination

 driven by design
 Circulate materials and products of a high value that contribute to regenerating nature
(Ellen, 2024).
Benefit of circular principle on hospital building:

The building will utilize bio-based boards as well as insulation for the sake of creating a
low energy demand. The use of long-phase shift time in the new building will significantly help
to minimize the use of conditioners at the hospital. The hygroscopic material will be used in the
building that helps in breathe of thermal envelopes at the hospital. The internal moisture build-up
can be overcome by installing the MVHR system at the hospital. The attainment of a comfortable
living environment is possible through maintaining an air-tight system in hospital buildings.
Hospitals also help in balancing the positive CO2 principle. It is possible through using the
timber in the building and replantation of young trees which again bid the carbon dioxide. The
timber is the only wood that helps in more carbon absorption and emits carbon in less amount
during processing, installation, and production.

The principle of circular construction is a strategy that has been utilized in the
construction of hospitals. Opportunities for hospital recycling and energy consumption are
considered to be important choices of method and material used in the construction of the
building. Reuse is incorporated as a core element already before the first time the material is
used.

Furthermore, the location of the building is set in alignment with the urban landscape and
lined with green spaces. The hospital keenly focuses on preserving the environmental quality and
decided to redevelop the existing side despite the make extension in the existing building. The
hospital also aimed to integrate the garden for the public in the hospital to help in building strong
ties between the hospital and the residents surrounding the hospital. The hospital also added
tandem in the building and developed the green space structure. The hospital's main concern is to
ensure the well-being of staff, patients, surrounding residents, the general public, and above all
environment (Bracops, 2024).
