SOPs for the Internship

Students enrolled in the spring session are supposed to do internship at the end of 7 th semester (summer).
Students enrolled in the fall semester will do internships in 6 th semester. It’s a non-credit requirement for
the degree.

Following are the guidelines for doing internship:

1. It is mandatory for student to hunt any tourism/hospitality-related organization/industry/setup to


work for 6-9 weeks. On the request of the student in charge internship program will issue referral
letter for particular organization where student intends to do his/her internship,
2. The department is not liable to provide internship placement for the student,
3. In charge internship/team designated by the chairman DTHM will monitor the student where
he/she is doing internship.
4. At the end of internship, student will provide original as well as copy of the internship experience
certificate as endorsed by HR manager/top management (competent authority).
5. Additionally, intern is supposed to prepare complete internship report highlighting all the
operations he/she has observed/learned/practiced in the organization of which he/she has been
through.
6. At the announced date, the department will conduct internship viva, student has to pass (attaining
60 marks out of 100).
7. Student failing to meet the said requirements including, insufficient/non-standard internship report
or non performing/unsatisfactory viva (examiner remarks) related to internship, will be asked to
reappear for viva or improve viva report or again do internship (if asked by the examiners).
8. Plagiarism report of each internship document, as submitted by student, will be checked as per
HEC plagiarism policy.
9. Once a student has passed internship/viva-voce with at least 60% of marks will proceed toward
next step of degree (research project).
