REPLACING CONTROL PANEL IN SALWICO GAS AND FIRE ALARM

PANEL 4-Row article 51000.

This instruction applies to the following systems, when replacing the control panel of 4-row type:

Sw2020 Gas sampling system.

CS3000 + CS3004 Fire alarm system.

GS3000 Gas alarm system.

Important note: When working on these panels, discharge possible EMC on your self and the used
tools before any parts are dismantled. Best is to operate in a EMC protection environment, but as
rarely available onboard its usually sufficient to touch ground/earth with the hands and let the tools
used also have contact to ships earth prior to work. If the panel is carried away to another area, its
advised to repeat the process by touching ground/earth a new before work commences.

First of all, make sure the power to the panel you are about to replace is OFF. Switching off the
system entirely is always recommended. If not possible, the fuse/power supply to the control panel
can be removed. NOTE: Failure to remove the power before removal of panel will most likely
damage the system even further!

When its sure the panel is without power, unscrew the 4x screws holding the panel. Note there might
be bolts on the backside of screws. Remove the two flatcables from the panel.
With the flatcables removed the panel can be lifted out. Now put the panel on a smooth surface,
discharge again the EMC from your selves and tools, in as good a way as possible.

3x Eproms are to be removed, the two “Eprom” H, “Eprom L” and “Flash 1”.

Make sure they are labeled up properly and note also the marker on one end that corresponds to
similar marker on the eprom socket. Its essential the marker is put correctly! Now use a flat-blade
screwdriver and insert carefully under the eprom, between socket and eprom. Twist out carefully, do
this operation from both sides. Careful not to put any force on the other components on the board!
When all three eproms are removed, they are to be put into place on the new panel. Make sure that
all legs of the eproms are coming into their position, and double check the position of the marker, so
that it corresponds to the marker on the socket. Do not mix “L” and “H” positions.

When done, refit in the opposite way. Double check all is fitted properly, put the flat-cables back and
refit the screws. Note that no additional settings should be required, as the memory and
programming are contained within the 3x eproms. Should flash 1 be damaged/erased, the procedure
is not enough but also re-programming of the system is required.

Note on the replacement part: The control panel is article 51000. If its sent out without new keypad,
the old keypad can be re-used. This is then either done by removing it from the existing control panel
and put to the new 51000 panel. But this might not be possible if the glue is really stuck, the keypad
might be destroyed while removing it. In such case, the board “GPK-4” can be unscrewed from old
panel, and the new GPK-4 board from new panel also unscrewed and put in the place on old panel,
enabling continued use of the existing keypad front. For this work its even more important to work in
an EMC protected environment!

Please note that only GPK-4 from a article 51000 will work. The separately sold GPK 51005 will NOT
work as its hardware is different!!! The 51005 is only intended for Salwico IBI units.
