Calon Arang

Calon Arang was angry because his daughter, Ratna Manggali, had no suitors
even though she was already an adult. If no man proposes to her, Ratna Manggali will
not have children. The young men at that time did not have the courage to propose to
the beautiful Ratna Manggali because Calon Arang was known to use black magic. It
is said that Calon Arang is a powerful magician who worships the Goddess Durga and
can turn into a Leak.

Out of anger, Calon Arang ordered all his students to spread disease to the
coast of the Kediri kingdom at midnight, when all the residents were fast asleep. The
condition of the village was in uncontrollable chaos due to the outbreak or outbreak.

Calon Arang suddenly felt happy when he heard this news. So, a massive party
was held for seven days and seven nights. Calon Arang felt happy, Ratna Manggali
and Empu Bahula also felt happy and they loved each other. After the party was over,
Empu Bahula began carrying out his duties. Empu Bahula asked his wife why her
mother-in-law was so powerful. Then, Ratna Manggali explained that her mother's
magic lay in a magic book. Through this book, he can summon Betari Durga. The
book could not leave Calon Arang's hands.

Knowing this, Empu Bahula immediately devised a strategy to steal the book.
One night, Empu Bahula sneaked into Calon Arang's room and took the book. Then,
the stolen book was handed over by Empu Bahula to his teacher, namely Empu
Baradha. Calon Arang, who found out that his book had been stolen, was furious and
challenged Empu Baradha to a fight. This fight was very fierce and finally Empu
Baradha won and Calon Arang was killed. Since the defeat of the Calon Arang,
people's lives have become more peaceful and safe from the threat of black magic.
