AMENDMENT NO.

TO
IS 2052 : 2009 FOR COMPOUNDED FEEDS FOR CATTLE — SPECIFICATION
(Third Revision)

(Cover page 2, Foreword, para 2, line 1) — Substitute ‘1979’ for ‘1978’.

(Page 1, clause 3.1) — Substitute the following for the existing clause:

‘Compounded cattle feeds shall be of three types, namely, Type I, Type II and Type III. Type III cattle feed is
for low yielding animals.’

(Page 1, clause 4.2.2, sentence 2) — Substitute the following for the existing sentence:

‘When urea has been added, the compounded cattle feed shall contain not less than 10 percent by mass of easily
digestible carbohydrates like molasses, cereal grains, potato starch, tapioca starch, etc and a ratio of
total nitrogen to sulphur of 10 : 1 shall be maintained. For testing of total nitrogen, the method given in 5 of
IS 7874 (Part 1) shall be used and for testing of sulphur, the method given in Annex B of IS 1664 shall be used.’

(Page 1, clause 5.1) — Insert ‘or HDPE bags’ after ‘laminated paper bags’.

[Page 1, clause 5.2 (see also Amendment No. 1)] — Substitute the following for the existing clause:

‘5.2 Each bag shall be legibly marked or labelled to give the following information:

a) Name and type of the material;


b) Name of the manufacturer and address;
c) Net quantity when packed, in kg;
d) Batch or Code number;
e) Crude protein percent;
f) Crude fibre content;
g) Aflatoxin B1 content;
h) Urea per cent, if present;
j) Date of manufacture;
k) Best before from date of manufacture;
m) Directions for use (including inside literature);
n) Acid insoluble ash;
p) Calcium content;
q) Total phosphorus content;
r) Available phosphorus content; and
s) Any other requirements as given under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011’.

5.2.1 BIS Certification Marking

The product may also be marked with the Standard Mark.

5.2.1.1 The use of the Standard Mark is governed by the provisions of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986
and the Rules and regulations made thereunder. The details of conditions under which the license for the use of
Standard Mark may be granted to manufacturers or producers may be obtained from the Bureau of Indian
Standards.’
