For tasks that do not require a Safe Operating Procedure, please complete the work method statement
WORK METHOD STATEMENT (WMS)
Identify the Task Steps in the left hand side (LHS) column of the Work Method Statement Sheet below. Expand the Task Step to describe how the work package will be
executed. Sufficient detail must be provided to enable an Approver of the JHA to form a mental picture of how the work package will be undertaken. The WMS describes how
the task step will be performed. The following sheet details the hazards identified and the required controls. It should be possible to copy and paste the LHS column of the
WMS table to the LHS column of the Hazard Analysis/Controls Worksheet, then proceed with the Hazard Analysis. It may then be necessary to add several relatively generic
risks/hazards. (Add lines as required, e.g. Gas Cutting, Grinding, Use of Impact Wrench, etc.).
Site establishment which includes the opening of work permits and doing pre-task risk assessments should always be task 1.
Housekeeping and or closure of work permits and handover should always be the last task in the WMS and RA
