Looking back at my learning experience in BSW309, I am confident that I met all the goals of

the course as stated in the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). Across all the modules, each
SLO operated as a lighthouse, pointing me towards the right approach to meet crucial learning
outcomes necessary for proficient social work practice. Firstly, I was able to fully explain and
prove knowledge of the basic theoretical orientations in social work practices and their usage
across various settings. These incorporated social justice theories, ethical concepts, and
intervention approaches that I employed in discussions, assessment tasks, and role-plays.
Secondly, I put into practice the knowledge and skills I learned in the classroom by
demonstrating good results in cases and simulations. By participating in these activities, I was
able to develop thinking and analysis skills that are vital in the practice of social work.
Furthermore, I cultivated an understanding of cultural competency and ethical decision-making.
This awareness was developed in class where we focused on cultural sensitivity and professional
ethics while dealing with society as well as with fellow students. Lastly, my demeanor in
expressing myself and working with others in group projects signified my mastery of the
interpersonal skills that the SLOs stressed. It was not only an opportunity that developed my
teamwork skills but also one that enabled me to perform as a professional within an
interprofessional environment.

In conclusion, the course BSW309 has played an important role in preparing me for this new role
of a proficient social work practitioner. I have faced obstacles, discovered weak points, and
started making changes to ensure constant progress in any personal and professional endeavor.
