1. First Situation:
a. You are to set a 4 digits combination lock with 4 rotating wheels each
with 10 different numbers.
b. The answer is obtained by P(10,4), where we can read it as the
permutation of 10 digits taken 4 at a time. The answer is there are 5,040
ways you can set a lock in a combination lock.

Second Situation:
a. The number of ways a Teacher can arrange 12 students in a row.
b. The answer is obtained by the permutation P(12,1) = 12 ways.

2. We apply those examples of situations in our daily lives by pairing


and considering what is the best decision we made. We pair, as in a
permutation, and solve to find the best solution like example in making
decisions or conclusions.
