If the EDD has LACP activated and his neighbor don’t, the port-channel will
not be created and the interfaces will operate individually, allowing the
occurence of network loops. In order to use LACP safely, it’s recommended
to not have any data VLAN configured in the interfaces until the LACP
connection has been confirmed by both sides through the show lacp
LACP --
neighbors command. After confirming the port-channel creation, configure
the data VLANs on the newly created port-channel. The LACP enabled
interfaces that are part of the port-channel will be blocked in case of LACP
BPDU transmission interruption, assuring this way no network loop will be
formed.
If EDD is managed through RDM, when a new configuration is received from
DmView, the device’s OAM connection to the RDM Master will be reset. This
RDM short interruption will cause logs and possibly an alert of configuration
inconsitency in DmView. In this case, it’s only required to update the status
in DmView and the configuration will show as synchronized.
