Task 1
The graph below shows data regarding the roles of mothers and fathers in the past half
century as they balance work and family.

Write a text of about 175 words analysing the data and drawing conclusions from them. Only
mention the figures if needed to support your arguments.

Task 2
Under zero-hour contracts employees only work as and when they are needed by employers,
often at short notice, and are only paid for the hours they work.
A newspaper recently published the following view regarding such contracts:

Viewpoints: Are zero-hour contracts exploitative?

“One of the reasons that the tourism industry is able to provide this level of benefit is because
the UK has a flexible labour market, including zero-hour contracts. They help businesses respond
quickly and efficiently to constantly changing levels of demand. Zero-hour contracts can also
benefit the many people looking for part-time work to supplement their household income. Used
wisely, they provide a win-win outcome for all parties.”
