Fannrem Sokker
Materials needed
Main Color – Hillesvag Ullvarefabrikk, Tinde (284 yds / 260 m per 100 g skein)
Size 3 shown in Color 2130 — 65 g (170 yds / 155 m) used for a foot length of 9” / 23 cm

Contrast Color – Hillesvag Ullvarefabrikk, Sol (284 yds / 260 m per 100 g skein)
Size 3 shown in Color 400 — 15 g (43 yds / 39 m)

Gauge — 25 sts & 34 rows = 4” / 10 cm blocked, in Main Color, US #3 / 3.25 mm needle

Sizes — 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6), leg and cuff height of 5.5” / 14 cm for all sizes
Measure foot circumference at widest part of foot, usually around the ball of your foot.
Size 1 to fit foot measurement: 6.5–7” / 16–18 cm
Size 2 to fit foot measurement: 7.25–7.75” / 18–20 cm
Size 3 to fit foot measurement: 8–8.5” / 20–22 cm
Size 4 to fit foot measurement: 8.75–9.25” / 22–24 cm
Size 5 to fit foot measurement: 9.5–10” / 24–25 cm
Size 6 to fit foot measurement: 10.25–10.5” / 26–27 cm

✤ US #3 / 3.25 mm, 32” / 80 cm circular needle
✤ US #2.5 / 3 mm, 32” / 80 cm circular needle

Abbreviations
CC = contrast color
CO = cast on
DS = double stitch (If you are unfamiliar with the double stitch, you can find a great

k = knit
kf&b = knit into the front, then the back of the same stitch
MC = main color
M1L = make one increase left
M1R = make one increase right
p2tog = purl two stitches together
p = purl
pf&b = purl into the front, then the back of the same stitch
PM = place marker
sl1 = slip one st from the left hand needle to the right hand needle without knitting
ssk = slip two stitches from the left hand needle knit-wise. Place them back onto the left
hand needle and knit them together
st/sts = stitch/stitches
wyif = with yarn in front

Toe
With CC, using Judy’s Magic Cast On and larger circular needle, CO 12 (16, 16, 16, 20,
20) sts. [6, (8, 8, 8, 10, 10) sts on each needle.]
PM for beginning of round and begin working in the round.
Round 1 - k all sts
Round 2 - *k1, M1R, k to 1 st before the end of the first needle, M1L, k1*, repeat ** for
second needle [4 sts increase]
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until you have a total of 40 (44, 48, 52, 56, 60) sts.

Foot
Change to MC and K in the round until the length of the sock is 2.5 (2.5, 3, 3, 3, 3)” / 6 (6,
6, 7.5, 7.5, 7.5) cm less than the total length of the foot.

Gusset
Round 1 - k across the 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30) sts of Needle 1 (top of the foot), k1, M1R, k
to the last st, M1L, k1 [2 sts increase]
Round 2 - k all sts
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until you have a total of 34 (38, 40, 44, 48, 50) sts on Needle 2
(bottom of the foot).

Heel Turn
K across all sts on Needle 1. You will now be working back and forth across Needle 2
only, while turning the heel.
Row 1 (RS) - k22 (24, 26, 28, 30, 32), kf&b, k1, turn
Row 2 (WS) - DS, p13 (13, 14, 15, 15, 17), pf&b, p1, turn
Row 3 (RS) - DS, k12 (12, 13, 14, 14, 16), kf&b, k1, turn
Row 4 (WS) - DS, p11 (11, 12, 13, 13, 15), pf&b, p1, turn
Row 5 (RS) - DS, k10 (10, 11, 12, 12, 14), kf&b, k1, turn
Row 6 (WS) - DS, p9 (9, 10, 11, 11, 13), pf&b, p1, turn
Row 7 (RS) - DS, k8 (8, 9, 10, 10, 12), kf&b, k1, turn
Row 8 (WS) - DS, p7 (7, 8, 9, 9, 11), pf&b, p1, turn [42 (46, 48, 52, 56, 58) sts on Needle 2]
Next Round (RS) - DS, k all sts to the end of Needle 2, knitting both legs of each DS
together as you go, then continue to k all sts for the front of the sock on Needle 1.

Heel Flap
Knitting on Needle 2 only -

Row 1 (RS) - k30 (32, 35, 38, 41, 43) knitting both legs of each DS together as you go,
ssk, turn
Row 2 (WS) - sl1 wyif, p18 (20, 22, 24, 26, 28), p2tog, turn
Row 3 (RS) - *sl1, k1*, repeat ** 8 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) more times, sl1, ssk, turn
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30) sts left on Needle 2, ending
after a WS row. [40 (44, 48, 52, 56, 60) sts total]

Leg
Sl1 and begin working in the round again, knitting for 1.5” / 4 cm
Increase by 0 (1, 2, 3, 4, 0) evenly in the round for a total of 40 (45, 50, 55, 60, 60) sts.
Join CC and begin chart at Round 1.
Break CC and continue knitting with MC for 4 rounds. Break MC.

Cuff
Change to smaller needles.
With CC, knit one round. Decrease by 0 (1, 0, 1, 0, 0) evenly in the round for a total of 40
(44, 50, 54, 60, 60) sts.
Then, *k1, p1*, repeat ** around for 1 (1, 1.5, 1.5, 1.5, 2)” / 2.5 (2.5, 4, 4, 4, 5) cm.
BO loosely in pattern.
Block and weave in ends.
Repeat instructions for second sock.
