Planters are mainly used for planting maize, sugar beet, rape
Seed drills are used to drill different crops.

These implement can be mechanical or pneumatic drills :

They allow to place seed in the soil. It’s important to set a depth . Before going in the
field the farmer puts the seed into the hopper.

The beam supports all parts of the seeder.

The hooper is a tank where the seed is stored.
The seed metering unit regulates the dose of seeds. It is made of a flap and seed-
roll. The flap can be adjusted. The seed roll varies according to the models fluted

The coulters : these units carry out different operations. There are different models
of coulters. For example, thendisc coulter is ideal to work soil with residues. The
function of the coulter is to dig the furrow and guide the seed to the soil.

Pneumatic seed drill
This type of drill is suitable for drilling wide range of seed at high speed.

Direct drill
The technic of direct drilling means that the seed is placed directly into stubble or
another undisturbed surface.

- Lubricate every day
- Check the differents parts
- Check drive belt and chain tensions at frequent intervals.
- Clean the drill before storage
- Check for broken or worn parts
- Lubricate the drill and store under cover
