Application of linear Algebra in Real life or in SE

 Image Processing and Photography: Linear algebra plays a crucial role in image
processing tasks such as digital image compression, enhancement, and filtering.
Techniques like convolution and matrix transformations are used to apply effects, adjust
brightness, and contrast, and perform edge detection.
 Engineering/manufacturing: Software for computer-aided design, manufacturing, or
analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) makes extensive use of numerical methods and (very
elementary) differential geometry. Software for CAE is often based on finite element
methods, which in turn are based on numerical linear algebra.
 Electrical Circuits and Signal Processing: Linear algebra concepts like Kirchhoff's
laws and Ohm's law are used to analyse and design electrical circuits. Matrices and
systems of linear equations are employed to model circuit components and solve for
voltage and current distributions.
 Medical Imaging and MRI: Linear algebra techniques such as Fourier transform, and
Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) are applied in medical imaging technologies like
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). These techniques enable the reconstruction and
analysis of images from raw data collected by imaging devices.
 Robotics and Control Systems: Linear algebra concepts are fundamental in robotics and
control systems for tasks such as kinematics, dynamics, trajectory planning, and control
design. Techniques like forward and inverse kinematics involve matrix transformations
and manipulations.
 Cryptography and Security: Linear algebra is utilized in cryptography and security
protocols for tasks such as encryption, decryption, and authentication. Techniques like
modular arithmetic and matrix operations are employed in cryptographic algorithms like
RSA and elliptic curve cryptography.
Why we study linear Algebra?
 Linear Algebra enables the development of innovative solutions and technologies that
drive progress and innovation in society.
 In various fields such as engineering, physics, computer science, economics, and
statistics. Its concepts and techniques are used to model, analyse, and solve problems in
diverse areas.
 Linear Algebra develops problem-solving skills and promotes critical thinking abilities.
 It involves abstract reasoning, logical deduction, and the ability to formulate and solve
mathematical problems using systematic approaches.
 Linear algebra provides efficient computational methods for solving systems of
equations, performing matrix operations, and solving optimization problems. These
computational techniques are essential in practical applications ranging from scientific
simulations to data analysis and machine learning.
 It provides the necessary framework and tools for understanding more complex
mathematical structures and theories.
 Techniques such as regression analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), and neural
networks heavily rely on linear algebra concepts for data representation, transformation,
and optimization.
