Good afternoon, my name is Natalia and my project is about chess.

In this project, I will talk

about:

- What is chess?

- What are the names of the pieces?

- Mythological origin

- Chess in recent times: Artificial intelligence versus humans

- Conclusion

Is chess a game? No, of course not. People say it is not a sport because it is much more than
that. It is art, it is passion, it is a war of minds. 64 squares, 16 pieces per side, the objective is to
checkmate the king. Chess is science, not a sport. But I ask you, is there anything more
powerful in the human body than the brain?

The pieces we have all seen when playing chess are called:

- King

- Queen

- Rook

- Bishop

- Knight

- Pawn

According to legend, chess was invented in India by a wise man named Sissa to show the king
how important each person is. For his reward, Sissa asked for grains of wheat, starting with one
on the first square of the chessboard and doubling it on each following square. In the end, the
total amount of wheat needed was more than what existed in the whole kingdom, teaching the
king a lesson about wisdom and humility.

In 1997, Deep Blue, an IBM supercomputer, made history by defeating world champion Garry
Kasparov in a chess match. It was the first time a machine had defeated a world champion in a
standard game.

My project provides a general overview of chess, highlighting its mythical origin, pieces,
movements, and benefits. Chess continues to be an influential and appreciated game worldwide.
Thank you very much for listening.
