Aim :- To study and implement different types of topologies.
Apparatus required:- Cisco packet tracker software. Procedure: 1. Drag appropriate number of PCs from end devices. 2. Connect every PC using appropriate cable. 3. Right click on the PCs then go to desktop option and select IP configuration then assign IP address in the IP address block. Assign 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2, 10.0.0.3, etc to each one of them and rename them with their IP address. 4. Select PDU (P), message icon and click on sender and receiver PCs to connect them. Case 1: (Star Topology) Connect all PCs from each other according to topology mentioned with a single switch in centre. Now in simulation panel press play button and observe the message transmission. We can observe the message transmission path in star topology.
Case 2: (Ring Topology)
• Connect every PC with a switch and connect all switch in a ring format. Now in simulation panel press play button and observe the message transmission. We can observe that message passes through every switch and stop at destination. Case 3: (Mesh Topology) Connect every PC with a switch and connect every switch with each other which will form mesh. Now in simulation panel press play button and observe the message transmission. We can observe that message do not need to pass through different switch, it can be transmitted from sender to receiver PC at once.
Case 4: (Bus Topology)
Connect every PC with a switch and connect every switch with each other in a row (bus). Now in simulation panel press play button and observe the message transmission. We can observe that message passes through every switch and stop at destination. Case 5: (Tree Topology) Connect every PC with a switch and connect every switch in hierarchical manner. Now in simulation panel press play button and observe the message transmission. We can observe that message passes through different hierarchical node and reach its destination. Case 6: (Hybrid Topology) Connect every PC with switch and form multiple topologies with them. Now connect every different topology with each other. Now in simulation panel press play button and observe the message transmission. We can observe that message passes through topologies and reach its destination.
