women menbers .

On the fifteenth day, I visited a rural village named Aknageria located in West Bengal. I have
observed these things:
West Bengal Schemes Supporting SHG Women:
1. West Bengal Swanirbhar Sahayak Prakalpa (WBSSP):

• Launched in April 2014, WBSSP aims to ease the interest burden on SHG loans.
• Benefits:
o Subsidized Interest Rates: The government subsidizes a portion of the interest
charged by banks on SHG loans. This can significantly reduce the financial
burden on the groups, making it easier for them to access credit and invest in
income-generating activities.
o Streamlined Process: Banks submit claims electronically, and the West Bengal
Swarojgar Corporation Ltd. verifies and disburses subsidies directly to eligible
SHG accounts.

2. Swami Vivekananda Swanirbhar Karmasansthan Prakalpa (SVSKP):

• Established in 2000-2001, SVSKP promotes self-employment in rural and urban areas.

• Target Group: Unemployed youth, including women from underprivileged
backgrounds.
• Support:
o Financial Assistance: Provides financial aid to start tiny businesses in various
sectors like production, manufacturing, trade, services, and agriculture.
o Skill Development Training: Equips beneficiaries with the necessary skills to
run their enterprises successfully.
o Focus on Traditional Crafts: Encourages the use of locally available resources
and revitalizes traditional crafts, promoting cultural preservation and income
generation.

3. Muktidhara:

• This project specifically focuses on empowering tribal women through sustainable

livelihoods.
• Key Aspects:Skill Development: Provides training programs to equip women with skills
relevant to local economic opportunities.
o Micro-enterprise Support: Assists SHGs in setting up and managing micro-
enterprises, fostering their economic independence.
o Sustainability Focus: Promotes long-term economic empowerment by
fostering self-reliance and income generation.

Additional Resources:

• While these schemes don't directly address a 100-day work program, they provide
crucial support for SHG women to build sustainable livelihoods.
• To explore further, you can visit the West Bengal Department of Self Help Group & Self
Employment website ([WB Govt SHG & SE schemes]). This site might have updates or
additional programs not readily available online.

By understanding these initiatives, you can gain a better understanding of how the West
Bengal government is working towards empowering women and promoting economic
development through Self Help Groups.
