Dear Mr. John,
Hopefully you are doing well. I’m writing this letter to suggest my view on the recent social media incident that took place on twitter involving Ms. Justine Sacco, she was formally your director of corporate communications at your company IAC/InterActiveCorp. I’m a self- employed communication consultant, I am aware of the adversity that your company is presently facing, and I would be happy to offer advice regarding how to maneuver through this difficult condition. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to offer my insight in this situation concerning the aftermath of the tweet posted by Ms. Justine Sacco which received a lot of media attention and public review, and I am mindful of how critical things are for the company. In a nutshell, Ms. Justine Sacco posted series of messages on her twitter page while on her private trip which many people thought it was distasteful, abusive and racist. It caused a lot of wide negative coverage in the media, affecting both Ms. Justine Sacco and the company’s image and reputation. The main concern now is how to handle the repercussion from the tweet which has caused a big backlash on the company’s image and shifted the social dynamic. What we must do now is to focus on reducing and limiting the effect this backlash might directly have on the company. Our best approach would be to understand the complicated variables at work arising from this situation and addressing these issues. Firstly, the recommended cause of action should be social media management, limiting Ms. Justine Sacco public presence on social media. This would help to stop the growing audience on the matter and help reduce negative attention, rules and regulation on social networking should be properly explained to the employee by highlighting the importance about proper communication to avoid further incident of sort. Secondly an internal meeting needs to be held to assure the staff members your company is well informed of the situation and is making effort to reslove it and the company is equal and highlight the principle of the company by providing training courses on cultural equality and awareness for all staff members, it would help promote a better work environment. Finally expressing regret is necessary, putting out a statement of apology to the public showing true regret that it may have caused this would show responsibility in dealing with the problem directly. These ideas are meant to assist with both short- and long-term solutions for the company's reputation. I believe through all these steps it will significantly build trust back in the company. Thank you for taking your time to review what I have to say. I would suggest you use this time to access the recommendation with immediate effect and I'm ready to talk more about these suggestions and work together to put all these insights into practice to achieve a greater result for IAC/InterActiveCorp. I respect you giving me this opportunity and I'm excited about this chance to help tackle this predicament. Sincerely, Brando Evbodaghe Business Analyst Fanshawe college
