Changed setting options of the working hydraulics

For the wheeled excavators and material handing machines, it is now possible to adapt the
dynamics of the machine even better to customer requirements due to an advancement in
the hydraulic system of the new machine generation.
The standard setting which is selected at the factory covers the majority of customer require-
ments. For special applications or requirements of individual operators, a service technician
can change this setting flexibly without altering the hardware, to meet the demands of all
customers in an optimum way.

The following customer benefits are resulting of this new, flexible hydraulic setting:

 Flexible adaptation of the dynamics of the working hydraulics to the require-

ments of different applications allows maximum productivity for each and
every customer.
 The dynamics can now be optimally adapted to the individual skills and require-
ments of very different operators and thus produces a high level of comfort
when working with the machine.
The entire range can be completely adjusted to the operator, so that this person
can optimally use the various operating modes.

This change will be available for various models starting at the below-mentioned delivery time*:

 Already in series: A 920 Standard, LH 24, LH 26

 Starting in March 2018: A 916 Standard, A 918 Compact, A 918 Standard, LH 22
 In planning: A 910 Compact, A 912 Compact, A 914 Compact, A 914 Standard,

New undercarriage version for LH 35 M Timber

For the LH 35 M Timber, the new undercarriage version "stabiliser and dozer blade rear
3,000 or 3,300 mm wide, outrigger front" (see fig.) is available immediately. You can find
these versions in the Lias product configurator under "Undercarriage" > "Stabilising & driving" >
"Outrigger variants".

This undercarriage version has been specially designed for trailer operation. For long driving
distances, a combination of log loader and trailer is the optimum and most efficient choice. This
yields the following customer benefit for this use:

 High safety due to the increased stability during loading and unloading of
the trailer over the entire swivelling range of 360°.
 High productivity during loading cycles in timber handling. This is
achieved through an increased load carrying capacity of the machine. As a
result of this new stabilising variant, the load carrying capacity can be
increased by up to 33% – in comparison to the conventional version of
blade stabilisation.

In the version shown, the blade can continue to be used as a stabilizer as well as additionally
for clearing work as usual.

At the following link, you can see the LH 35 M Timber with the new undercarriage version in
action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uuy_0-ypqT8

Air pre-filter with dust extraction available again

The air pre-filter with dust extraction can be selected for all machines with the Liebherr D924
engine in the Lias configuration system effective immediately. This option is therefore
available for all wheeled excavators and material handling machines of stage IV (Tier 4f).

The air pre-filter with dust extraction (cyclone filter, see fig.)
serves as a supplement and is upstream of the standard
two-stage air filter. As a result, a very effective pre-cleaning
of the intake air flow can be achieved, which results in a
dust extraction rate of up to 98% of all particles up to 5 μm.

Recommended for use of a particle filter

(Liebherr and others) and for frequent use in
dusty environments.

When the air pre-filter with dust extraction is used, the following customer benefit
can be achieved with respect to profitability:

 Increased service life of the standard two-stage air filter.

 Protection and relief of the load on the particle filter (if the machine has one).

Conversion of the camera layout on the display
As part of the cabin facelift (see sales information 30.03.2016), the side area monitoring with
camera was also included as standard. Subsequent to this modification, the display was also
redesigned showing both camera images at the same time and therefore still complies with the
latest legal requirements. This modification (see figures below) comes into force immediately
for all delivered machines.

Old display New display

Customer benefit: Thanks to this new, optimized display, driver comfort as well as safety at
the building site can be increased.

 Permanent display of the rear area and side area monitoring in large format
for a better overview of the danger zone.
 Thus, if you are in another menu, the display returns automatically to the
standard display after 10 sec (the interval can be set individually between 3
and 15 sec) when the safety lever/side console is down.
 At the top edge of the display, status and error messages are shown.
 At the bottom edge of the display, the most important information, such as
operating modes, filling levels etc. are displayed (this may vary depending
on the machine type).

Availability: This modification applies to the following machine types:

 All wheeled excavators

(except for A 922/924 rail, since a second display is permanently available)
 All material handling machines
 All crawler excavators
(since January 2017 for all machines with an operating weight from 18 t upwards)

This modification can also be implemented directly on the machines afterwards by

a software update. For this reason, the presented and new display layout can also
be implemented for machines before this deadline (check individual machines).

New mudguard system for wheeled excavator
On the basis of market feedback the existing mudguards have been constructively optimized.
The transition to the new version (cf. Bauma exhibit; see pictures below) takes place from the
delivery date of the machines 1/9/2016*.
The new version of the mudguard system now ensures even higher comfort and safety during
use of machinery. So, both the front and rear lights are now protected against contamination,
as is the windscreen.

* Machines with Stage IV / Tier 4f from the beginning with the new version, regardless of the machine’s date of delivery.

The three main design changes and the resulting customer benefits are listed below:

 The mudguards cover the front wheels to a higher degree and therefore
protect better against the contamination of the machine and damage to the
headlights.
 The mudguards are now steering with the wheels on the steering axle, which
supports a better retention of dirt even when cornering.
 The new design concept allows simple and comfortable retrofitting of the
mudguards, saving time and costs.

The mudguards continue to be available as an option for all machines that are marked in the
table below. This applies to all selectable undercarriage variants in the Lias offer system, as
well as the standard tire variants.

The exception is the "Michelin XF“ tire, which cannot be selected in combination
with the new mudguard system due to its larger dimensions.

Change of cab mirrors
From now on, all green marked wheeled excavators, material handling machines and the R
914 Compact on the bottom of the page are not equipped with the below marked inner cabin
mirror anymore. However, these machines not having this mirror anymore still fulfill the
requirements to drive on the street as well as the sight field according to ISO5006.

Exception: A 910 Compact and A 912 Compact:

This mirror is still necessary for these two machines based on the position of
their attachment with the swivel bearing in order to enable an optimal visibility.

Horn on the joystick as standard
Until now, the horn on Liebherr wheeled excavators has been located in the footwell as
standard (foot-operated switch), but could be placed on the joystick as an option.

Starting from delivery date 01/06/2015, the horn will be located on the left joystick as
standard, as shown in the following illustrations:

Left joystick: without proportional control Left joystick: with proportional control

Optionally in the footwell:

You will still be able to offer the option of having the horn placed in the footwell as it was
previously (foot-operated switch). You will find this option on the Lias product configurator
under "Cab" – "Operation & Work" – "Additional Equipment":

Horn activation through the joystick will remain available even if the option of the foot-operated
switch in the footwell has been chosen.

Notes for special cases:

In a few individual cases, because of the machine configuration (e.g. a magnet

insert), it will not be possible to operate the horn through the joystick. In such
cases, the horn will automatically be placed in the footwell at neutral cost.
